Responsibilities

Summary of Position: Reporting directly to the Safety and Training Manager, the Training Supervisor will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of assigned training programs to train employees as well as, develop driving skills, defensive driving and other techniques to ensure Operator skill and safety. Training programs will include safe use of equipment, maintenance and equipment operation, health and safety procedures and policies and procedures.

  • Reviewing all the training materials of a particular program prior to the delivery of a class and ensuring all training materials, supplies and equipment are arranged.
  • Assessing employee progress and performance throughout the class including attendance, performance and assessments or tests.
  • Use of appropriate adult learning techniques in practical and classroom settings.
  • Recommend discontinuation of training where trainee qualifications or performance does not meet York Region standards.
  • Ensure training certification documents are accurate, complete and properly submitted.
  • Ensure safety of trainees in training environments
  • Promoting a positive, safe and harassment free learning environment and taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Facilitate new driver training school and written testing for license renewals.
  • Conducts on site accident investigation and re-training.
  • Adhere to Ministry Approved Driver Certification Program (DCP)

Requirements

 

  • Certified Instructor in CUTA Transit Ambassador in Customer Service
  • Certified Professional Instructor in Bus Operator Education in Fleet Driver Trainer (P.R.I.D.E Certification)
  • Must possess or be able to obtain MTO signing authority under recognized authority program
  • Must possess sound judgement, excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, interpersonal, coaching/counselling, leadership and customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid BZ licence with a minimum of 3 years experience and clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR
  • Experience working in the transit industry is an asset
  • Excellent understanding and practical experience with adult education is an asset
  • Strong computer skills with a working understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strong and fast learner
  • Ability to work various shifts and weekends as required.
